Volunteer Response Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the growth and development of our English online missionary program. This position supports a growing network of online volunteer communities, ensuring their effectiveness in responding to thousands of new messages monthly. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on executor, inspiring volunteer participation and driving continuous improvement through data-driven insights. They will be instrumental in fostering a vibrant online community and contributing to the operational processes that help our volunteers thrive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

– Support the daily operations of a large-scale online volunteer program, responding to Online Missionary and applicant requests and questions promptly
– Process applications for new volunteers, ensuring a welcoming first interaction with GMO
– Track key program metrics, such as response times and unanswered messages, and relay feedback to volunteer leaders and Response Director for appropriate action.
– Provide guidance to volunteers and leaders, helping them consistently apply best practices in responding to contacts
– Coordinate volunteer meetings, scheduling, creating reminders, managing registration, creating agendas and distributing follow-up items
– Support initiatives to cultivate a strong sense of community and connection among online volunteers
– Create and disseminate engaging mass communications, including monthly newsletters, email announcements, and updates across various online platforms
– Assist in the identification and development of future volunteer leaders within the volunteer program
– Contribute insights from daily operations to the review and refinement of program policies and procedures
— Apply strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple priorities and ensure smooth program operations

QUALIFICATIONS

– 2+ years experience in supporting or coordinating large-scale volunteer programs
– Exceptional organizational and project management skills, capable of supporting multiple initiatives.
– Familiarity with call center or help desk best practices is a plus
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coaching, policy guidance, and mass communication (newsletters, announcements).
– Experience with online communication platforms, AI tools, and email marketing software.
– Desire to coach and encourage others.
– Ability to foster a positive and collaborative community culture in a virtual setting.
– Proactive problem-solver with a detail-oriented approach to execution.
– Passion for the mission of Global Media Outreach and a heart for ministry.
