On the island of Mauritius in East Africa, Randhir reached a moment of absolute darkness. Alone, jobless, and drowning in debt after a difficult divorce, he locked himself in his room for three days, mentally prepared to end his life. His future felt hopeless. His past, a heavy burden.
“It felt like I had lost everything…I searched for peace and healing everywhere, but found nothing,” Randhir said. “In that desperate moment, I cried out—not to any idol this time, but to the Creator of all things. I asked, ‘Why me, Lord? Why so much suffering?’”
That’s when everything changed for Randhir.
A Voice in the Silence
In anguish, Randhir heard a voice in that room, not from outside but from deep within: “I can hear you.” It wasn’t imagined. The voice began to answer the questions in his heart. It pointed to the consequences of his own decisions, including marrying against his father’s counsel and the pain that followed. A flashback of events, his mistakes, and his broken relationships unfolded like scenes from a film.
“Hearing that voice was not my imagination,” he said. “For the first time, I knew that the living God is real. I wept, and I begged him for a new life.”
An Invitation and a Life Transformed
Just then, when Randhir prayed, his sister, who had recently become a Christian, knocked on the door. She and her church family had been praying for him, and she invited him to attend a church prayer event. This time, Randhir said yes. “I went with an empty heart.”
At the service, the pastor invited first-time visitors to come forward and pray. Randhir was the only one who stepped out. That night, he gave his life to Jesus.
“During the pastor’s message, it felt like Jesus himself was speaking directly to me, whispering, ‘You are not alone, I am with you,’” Randhir said.
Randhir felt a sense of deep peace–something he had never experienced before. And from that moment on, everything began to change.
Finding GodLife and a Guide
At home, Randhir searched online for ways to grow in his new faith. He downloaded the Bible app and saw an ad for GodLife. Clicking through, he found discipleship resources and submitted a contact form to connect with an online volunteer. That form changed everything.
He was connected with a GMO Online Missionary named Rigg, who began guiding him through the Look to Jesus discipleship lessons for new believers. The two corresponded regularly by email as Randhir started attending church, reading the Bible daily, and growing stronger in his faith.
“My mentor, Rigg, showed me the love and grace of Jesus,” Randhir said. “I’m truly thankful to Global Media Outreach and to be part of the GodLife family.”
“Wake Up and Follow Me”
Not long after, Randhir had a vivid dream where a voice called him to “Wake up and follow Me.” He didn’t hesitate. He recognized it as the Lord’s call to take the next step: baptism.
On April 1, 2023, Randhir was baptized. That same night, while praying to Jesus, he shared how he wished he had known Christ during His time on earth.
“I wanted to know what He looked like. I had prayed to idols my whole life. Now I wanted to meditate on Him.”
He felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to take a photo of an image of himself as an embryo. When he followed the prompting, the second photo revealed something remarkable: a face beside his embryo.
“I cried in gratitude. I knew Jesus was showing me He had been with me since before I was born.”
New Life and a New Calling
After his baptism, Randhir prayed for work as the debts he owed were weighing on him. Miraculously, the government unexpectedly accepted him into a fully funded medical assistant training program. He received food stipends, transportation, a laptop, and job placement.
The opportunity felt like a miracle. Not only did God provide financial stability and equip him with new skills, but that very laptop would later become a key tool in the next chapter of his journey: connecting with seekers as an Online Missionary.
He completed the program and is now working full-time as a healthcare assistant in one of the most reputable clinics on the island. He also works part-time as a massage therapist.
In his work, he shares his faith and prays for his patients. One patient, initially resistant to hearing about God, returned weeks later to tell Randhir he had started reading the Bible again.
“I told God: I only want to work for You. Let everything I do be for Your purpose.”
Becoming an Online Missionary
As Randhir grew in his faith, he felt God calling him to serve others, just like Rigg had served him. He applied to become an Online Missionary but wasn’t accepted at first since he was new in his faith. Rigg encouraged him to try again and personally recommended him.
Today, Randhir serves as an Online Missionary himself. In just his first month, he connected with more than 70 seekers.
“Being an Online Missionary has been a blessing for me,” Randhir said. “I’m grateful to witness lives transformed and to be part of God’s work online.”
Randhir’s greatest joy as an online volunteer is watching seekers take closer steps toward Jesus. As he put it, “My own faith grows as I serve.”
From One Life to Many
“Being a Christian has been a new beginning for me, and certainly not the end of my struggles,” Randhir said. “But now I face them with Jesus by my side.”
