Expanding Discipleship

Online Missionaries come from all walks of life, cultures and age ranges, and they all have one thing in common — a deep love for Christ and a desire to share Him with others, helping them grow in Him.

Our Global Media Outreach Online Missionaries come from diverse backgrounds, encompassing various walks of life, cultures, and age groups. What unites them is a profound love for Jesus and a shared vision to spread the Gospel message, and assist others in their spiritual growth.

“AS OF TODAY, I HAVE HELPED 4,588 CONTACTS IN 136 KNOWN COUNTRIES. AS YOU KNOW, THE NUMBER OF CONTACTS GROWS EVERY DAY. BUT THE LORD IS TAKING OUTSTANDING CARE OF US, AND WE HAVE NO NEEDS. MAY YOU EXPERIENCE JOY IN YOUR WALK WITH JESUS TODAY.”
— Joyce* (100 years old)

We are so grateful for each of our Online Missionaries. However, it takes thousands of volunteers to respond to the number of new contacts we see daily. That’s why we have developed a new digital training program to teach new volunteers how to disciple online and use communication tools effectively. It is so exciting to see the hope of Jesus manifested in our contacts, and it is equally exciting to hear how our volunteers are personally blessed as they share Jesus.

Our volunteer Online Missionaries have seen the following impact:

  • 62% have more confidence in sharing their faith
  • 73% are strengthened in their own relationship with the Lord
  • 79% have an increased vision for world missions
  • 60% have an increased understanding of the Scriptures
  • 73% spend more time in prayer for others
  • 67% experience an increased sense of calling

For many volunteers, the desire to share Jesus would otherwise be impossible due to location, finances or even physical limitations. However, through Global Media Outreach, an Online Missionary can share the love of Christ right from their own home!

“I LOVE HAVING INTERACTIONS WITH PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD. TWO OF MY MOST LOQUACIOUS CONTACTS ARE FROM CHINA AND SRI LANKA. GOD GAVE ME THIS OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER WITH GMO AFTER WANTING TO TELL OTHERS ABOUT JESUS BUT LIVING IN A REMOTE MOUNTAIN AREA AND HAVING FEW OPTIONS TO MINISTER TO PEOPLE IN PERSON.”
— Carolann*

We are passionate about training new volunteers to be prepared to use our secure digital response system, PATH. That’s why we developed an interactive training program this year to walk new OM’s through each step in addressing the needs of a new contact. This hands-on training gives the new volunteers immediate feedback, helping them hone their discipleship skills.

“WHEN YOU CAN SEE THE FINISH LINE [THE END TIMES], IT’S TIME TO SPRINT!”
— OM Bob*

In addition, the PATH system allows the OM to track the spiritual journey of each contact — to ensure they know how to pray, read their Bible, or to find a local church. Helping new believers grow through our customized spiritual progress-tracking tool is one of our priorities. We also increased the number of languages we offer our discipleship materials in, expanding from English, Spanish, Portuguese and French to Russian, Hindi and Arabic.

However, none of this is possible without our supporters, prayer warriors and volunteers. We are so grateful for each of them and appreciate their heart for our Lord and this ministry. We would love for you to partner with us as well. Whether through prayer, giving or becoming one of our incredible volunteers, we need you to continue sharing the Gospel worldwide. How is God calling you to partner with us today?

Since the time that this article was written, Joyce has passed away and is now in the presence of her Savior. We are so grateful for her unwavering service and servant’s heart.
