This story is told from the perspective of Kevin, a Major Gift Officer at Global Media Outreach. Kevin reflects on one of the most encouraging church partnerships he’s experienced. Ministry partner names have been changed for confidentiality.
When Mike walked into a GMO vision-casting dinner last fall, he was moved by how God uses digital tools to reach people with the Gospel, which captured his attention. As a former tech professional who left that world behind to plant a church ten years ago, Mike instantly understood the power of digital missions and the opportunity it holds for the global Church.
We met shortly after that event. Mike had a clear sense of calling and curiosity. He welcomed me into his office to hear more about Global Media Outreach (GMO) and explore how his church might come alongside us, not just financially, but as partners in the mission. He even offered to advocate for us with his leadership team and invited me to submit a proposal.
That conversation alone was encouraging. But what happened next was even more powerful.
Just a few weeks later, I received an email from three members of the church’s missions team. They had reviewed the proposal and were excited. They didn’t just want to support GMO, the ministry inspired them. They committed to financially supporting our work in digital evangelism and discipleship around the world monthly.
But their generosity didn’t stop there.
The three leaders wanted to meet with me over Zoom to learn more about the ministry and how they could pray for GMO, our Online Missionaries, and me personally.
In my 20+ years in ministry and development, I’ve had many conversations with churches. But this meeting was different.
The team asked thoughtful, insightful questions about our work. They were genuinely interested in how they could support us spiritually. They asked how I was doing, our challenges, and how they could bring those needs before the Lord. They committed to praying for GMO every week. They even asked if we could meet quarterly to stay connected.
That Zoom call became one of the most encouraging conversations I’ve had all year.
I left that meeting reminded of what true partnership looks like. It’s not just about funding a ministry, it’s about joining hands in faith, sharing a vision, and standing together in prayer. It’s about the relationship and the heart behind it.
This church saw GMO as more than a nonprofit. They saw us as a valid, Spirit-led ministry that God is using mightily to accomplish His purposes. That kind of affirmation, especially from a church with a heart for evangelism and discipleship, is deeply meaningful.
Their example has challenged and encouraged me. It reminded me that real partnership goes both ways. It’s not one-sided. It’s built on trust, mutual care, and a shared commitment to the Gospel.
At GMO, we pray for more partnerships like this, more churches that say yes, not just with their gifts but with their hearts. When we partner in prayer and purpose, we become part of something eternal.
