GLOBAL MEDIA OUTREACH CELEBRATES 1 BILLION GOSPEL PRESENTATIONS
Ministry Now Focused on Going Beyond a Billion

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    Plano, TX - April 21, 2014

In its tenth year of sharing the Gospel, Global Media Outreach (GMO) is celebrating the milestone of presenting the Gospel more than 1 billion times to people all over the world. On April 21, a visit to one of GMO’s Gospel websites tipped the scales in favor of the ministry’s new goal: Going beyond a billion.

“I was looking for something else and this ad came up here, I made the decision,” wrote Rafael, a seeker from Mexico, who viewed a Gospel presentation online. I'm asking for your help to understand all about Jesus,” wrote Rafael.

Since 2004, the ministry has received millions of messages just like Rafael’s from people across the globe who have viewed a Gospel presentation and have requested to be discipled by the ministry’s team of nearly 9,000 Online Missionaries.

“With 91 percent of humans living within range of a cell tower, the majority of seekers come to our sites from their cell phones. We see technology moving so rapidly and so dramatically across the earth, we know God Himself is making this possible,” said Walt Wilson, founder and chairman of Global Media Outreach.

Because of technology, GMO’s Gospel presentations are far reaching--even being accessed by those who live in countries where Christians face rejection and persecution because of their faith.

“I've been threatened with death because we embraced the Christian religion. For your information we are a group of 20 young people from the Republic of Yemen,” wrote a seeker named Sam.

As a leader in Internet evangelism, GMO stays on the cutting edge of technology to disciple and minister to others--including those who can’t connect with Christians in their own community. People all over the world are hungry for the Gospel, and GMO is focused on going beyond a billion to reach all those who hunger for Christ.

GLOBAL MEDIA OUTREACH EXCEEDS EVANGELISM GOAL - More Than 300 Million Gospel Presentations In 2013

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    Plano, TX - January 23, 2014

Global Media Outreach (GMO) exceeded its goal for 2013 by making more than 300 million Gospel presentations, including making more than 2 million in one day.

“I understand Jesus is the Lord, and my heart is hungry for Him,” wrote Mugabe from Nigeria. Mugabe saw just one of the over 300 million GMO Gospel presentations in 2013.

“Across the world, so many people are searching or open to the message that God loves them. Billions of people are in need of a Savior. By God's grace, many people are finding hope and salvation in Jesus,” said Nick Runyon, chief operating officer at Global Media Outreach.

In addition to 300 million Gospel presentations, 34 million people indicated a decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior through GMO sites. “The significance of these numbers are staggering. We are seeing God use technology, particularly mobile phones, as an incredibly effective way to reach the world,” said Walt Wilson, founder and chairman of Global Media Outreach.

A total of 326,353,266 Gospel presentations were made through GMO sites in 2013. From those presentations, 34,833,442 people indicated a decision to follow Jesus Christ—just like Mugabe.

The ministry is equipped with online missionaries who are celebrating at the news of this milestone. These dedicated volunteers allow GMO to not only present the Gospel, but to follow up and disciple any visitor who needs help in their walk with God. More than 13 million visits were made to GMO’s discipleship sites in 2013.

The impact of GMO’s work led ROI Ministry, Inc. to name Global Media Outreach as one of the top 10 most impactful Christian organizations—for the second year in a row.

The ministry isn’t stopping its work anytime soon. Their eyes are now set on the 2014 goal: 400 million Gospel presentations.

Global Media Outreach will continue sharing the Gospel and discipling millions of new believers by equipping them with the tools to grow spiritually. Liberty University and Global Media Outreach Reach Record 2.4 Million with the Gospel in One Day

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    Plano, TX - September 30, 2013

Liberty University kicked off their bi-annual Global Focus Week with a unique missions goal – reach at least 1 million people with the Gospel, with a special focus on the “10/40 Window” where 60% of the world’s population lives, but one of the least reached areas in terms of sharing Jesus. By partnering with online ministry Global Media Outreach (GMO), Liberty not only achieved the goal, but reached a new milestone when more than 2.4 million people experienced the Gospel message online in one day – the highest one day total in GMO’s history.

Liberty’s partnership with GMO extends beyond outreach to include online follow-up and discipleship. Students at Liberty have the opportunity to become Online Missionaries and respond to the new believers who request follow-up after indicating a decision for Christ or who need help and guidance.

“I have not prayed to receive Christ and I would like to investigate more,” a person from India wrote.

“How can I avoid sins from my life? (sins are repeating in my life). Please tell some activity to do the same,” wrote another seeker from Kuwait.

These are just a few comments from GMO’s more than 240 outreach websites in multiple languages, during the last few days. Over 500,000 people indicated decisions during the 3-day outreach, with more than 6.7 million total gospel presentations. "Liberty University is an innovator in higher education as one of the world's most prominent provider's of online education, said Vice President for Communications Johnnie Moore. We're also innovators when it comes to the Great Commission. We believe everyone in the world has a right to know who Jesus Christ is, and our partnership with Global Media Outreach has allowed us to reach many people who would otherwise not have such an opportunity. All of this we've been able to do without buying a single plane ticket, but just by leveraging the Internet for the good of the world and the glory of God."

"The changing communications landscape provides a unique opportunity to reach into areas of the world that have never been accessible. Liberty University’s heart for missions, together with GMO’s approach, gives students and future Christian leaders a new opportunity to share their faith and help ensure everyone has the opportunity to have a personal relationship with Jesus," said Walt Wilson, GMO Founder.

GMO uses modern online and mobile advertising to find someone interested in hearing about God, share the Gospel, offer an online Bible, and provide discipleship – all guided by a trained Online Missionary. Since GMO’s ministry launched in 2004, more than 500 million people have been reached with the gospel online with 100 million indicated decisions for Jesus.

Liberty University has more than 100,000 students studying between their residential and online programs of study. Their student body collectively represents all 50 states and 95 countries. Students and alumni are constantly engaged in areas all over the world, including the school’s ongoing Restore Rwanda campaign and several short-term mission trips through the Center for Global Engagement. Global Focus Week allows students to continue pursuing these options and become more involved in missions.

Currently, 1.1 billion people have never heard the Name Jesus, let alone any Scripture. The question is, “How do we use this modern Roman Road to get the Gospel and God’s Word to those who need it?”

For centuries, Bible societies and organizations have been have been extremely effective at delivering God’s Word to billions everywhere.  Just as the printing press provided a leap in the ability to share the Bible with people, the Internet has opened new doors for a broad coalition of Kingdom-focused organizations to increase access and engagement with God’s Word. The free download of the Bible App offered at GodLife.com allows people in every country to read or hear the Bible in an abundance of languages—all with the click of a button.

“We truly believe that our generation could become the most Bible-engaged generation in history,” said Pastor Bobby Gruenewald of LifeChurch.tv in Oklahoma and co-founder of YouVersion’s Bible App, which recently reached the historic milestone of 100 million downloads. “It’s an honor to work with Global Media Outreach as we join forces on this global mission to share the Bible.”

Advances in telecommunications have provided the world with more than 7.1 billion cell-phone subscriptions; 91% of the population lives within range of a cell tower.  Telecommunications company Ericsson predicts that 4.5 billion people will have smartphones within the next five years.

Global Media Outreach (GMO) recognizes the unique opportunity this presents.  Using modern online and mobile advertising, GMO is able to find someone interested in hearing about God, share the Gospel, offer an online Bible, and provide discipleship guides – all guided by a trained Online Missionary.

GMO’s Christian Growth Index survey to those who indicate “Yes” to receiving Christ as their Savior through GMO websites shows that, 12-18 months after their prayer, 62% are reading the Bible daily or weekly.  The skyrocketing use of the Internet and cell phones worldwide has given Christians an unprecedented opportunity to reach people all over the world with the Gospel and provide them with Scripture.

Global Media Outreach Introduces Facebook Response

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    Campbell, CA - June 1, 2013

Global Media Outreach (GMO), a leading Internet evangelism and discipleship ministry (www.globalmediaoutreach.com), today announced the launch of the ministry’s Facebook response program.

“GMO’s GodLife Facebook community (facebook.com/GodLifePage) has grown to more than 1.5 million ‘likes’, generating thousands of messages from seekers and believers asking for prayer, help and guidance,” said Walt Wilson, Founder and Chairman of Global Media Outreach. “By developing this program, Facebook users are assured of the same privacy they receive when connecting with our online missionaries through desktop or mobile websites.”

“The challenge for the ministry was how to respond to people through social media while integrating with our current response systems to ensure we could get the messages to trained online missionaries for help, as well as track what’s happening through the Facebook channel and still maintain security,” said Michelle Diedrich, Chief Marketing Officer. “As the world moves more and more to social media and mobile for communication, we want to make sure we can respond to any seeker who needs help. This new tool provides one more channel to make those direct connections with online missionaries.”

Specially trained online missionaries will be responding to the incoming messages using GMO’s Response System, sharing the gospel with seekers and praying for the Facebook users who come to us through the GodLife Facebook page.

GMO has seen enormous growth in the number of people reached with the gospel. At less than 10 cents per gospel presentation, 195,305,507 visitors came to GMO’s 150 web and mobile sites in 2012, with 26,169,717 indicating their decision for Jesus Christ.

With more than 9,500 volunteer Online Missionaries, individual Christians can conduct their own person-to-person ministry, from the comfort of home, sharing their faith with seekers from every country on earth.
